Long Bay a long way from Oteha style
16 October 2000
North Shore councillors cringe when they think about the way Oteha Valley turned out — full residences in tiny spaces where they envisaged one-bedroom, maybe two-room, apartments.
But they reckon they’re starting to get the hang of things, and the outcome at Long Bay should be much better.
The council has come up with a concept plan and will go to the formal hearings process about April next year. All going well, which is probably unlikely, the process which has taken a decade of dithering and a year of more concerted activity could see development in two years.
Next month the Shore council gets back on to the subject of Okura, and what should be allowed on the top end of the city there.
Down at Papakura, the district council has various structure plans moving steadily through the early stages of the rezoning process, and the plan for the urbanisation of the Hingaia Peninsula is well advanced.
Metro Apartments deal
Trevor Canty and John Roberts have come up with a bright idea to let small investors into the Metro Apartments mortgagee tender. Story details inside.

Welcome to the Bob Dey Property Report, upgraded into a subscription site on 7 March 2000. This new website is primarily about property investment in Auckland, but is expanding to cover the activities of listed vehicles and syndicates.
Some international news and property links are in place on the External links page. This home page carries some headlines (see below). Subscribers will get more detail via the Members homepage and can visit the Report map to find full reports. That access costs $NZ200 a year -- click on the Subscribe tab.
What information will you get in these pages? It will include analysis of listed company performances and market news, syndication, transaction details and analysis of the physical property market’s various sectors, articles about neighbourhoods, people, resource consent matters, litigation...
It will keep you abreast of the economic environment for property investment, keep you informed about the enablers and the blocks -- financing, law, planning and value. And there will be scope for debate.
The whole site is ad-free, but you can make your way round the property industry, including real estate agencies, by using the External links. That service is outside the subscriber section and will be updated. If your address isn't there and should be, let me know. Comments? E-mail
