Verissimo concept subdivision proposes 50 countryside living sites just over hill from Botany Downs

Commissioners dealt swiftly last Friday with a concept subdivision application from South Auckland developer Chris Verissimo, a proposal for 50 countryside-living sites on 101ha just over the metropolitan urban limit on Ormiston Rd at Flat Bush (on the muddy patch above East Tamaki in the regional growth forum map).

I expect the commissioners will decline the application, though the decision wonít be out for a week or two yet.

Scientists are still looking at the catchment, and itís unlikely that commissioners would jeopardise that work in favour of a developerís earthworks proceeding earlier.

The siteís on the fringe of the metropolitan urban limit, and the hearing brought out more exaggeration of the Auckland Regional Councilís position in the scheme of resource management.

In the north, independent commissioners for the Rodney District Council and Auckland Regional Council rejected the Aeropark subdivision proposal at Dairy Flat because of the extent of quarrying, which leaves it open to developer Paul Hopper to come back with a proposition that entails removing far less lime.

On the Coromandel, another branch of the Hopper family has cleared the way for the Whitianga Waterways canal subdivision, and in the city apartment development continues.

Bayleys launched its Total Property Easter auction series last week in Hamilton and Christchurch, and continues in Auckland today.
