The Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment’s building performance team has posted a summary of upcoming exceptions from the requirement for building consents.
From next Monday, some building projects won’t need building consents.
However, the building performance team said “there are still rules to follow. All exempt building work must meet the building code & other relevant legislation.
“We’re developing an online tool that will help homeowners better identify what building work does or doesn’t need a building consent and what rules they need to follow. This should be available later this year.”
