Keystone makes 9 scholarship awards

The Keystone Property Education Trust handed out 9 scholarships last night, 4 of them under a new key sponsor programme.

It’s also the first year Keystone itself has awarded 5 of its own university scholarships. After starting with 2 in 1996, Keystone raised its awards level to 4 in 2001.

The new awards are targeted at specific industry sectors and are intended for more advanced study.

Bayleys award: Simone Brown, with a pharmacy degree from Otago University, is heading into her final year of Auckland University’s Bachelor of Property degree, focusing on valuation, project management & maximising returns on an asset.

Carson Group awards: Danelle Jones is in her final year studying architecture at Auckland University and will attend Melbourne University next year for a Master of Engineering Project Management. Simon Dumergue is studying for the Bachelor of Property degree at Auckland University.

Multiplex award: Tamati Parker, from Gisborne, had a Keystone study award to attend Waikato University for a diploma in quantiy surveying & construction management,  and will attend Unitec in Auckland next year for a Bachelor of Construction Economics degree.

The 5 Keystone awards went to:

Dane Hart, Ruawai, enrolled for a Bachelor of Engineering degree at Canterbury University
George Djknavorian, Wellington, property valuation at Massey University, Palmerston North
Jason Miles, Auckland, Bachelor of Engineering, Auckland University
Jethro Giles, Hamilton, mechanical engineering, Waikato University
Raukura Turei, Auckland, Bachelor of Architectural Studies, Auckland University.

Keystone chairman Paul Duffy said the trust wanted to increase its capital base from $1.25 million to $1.375 million next year, when it would increase its annual sponsorship from about $64,000 to $77,000.
