2 cross-leases & 2 suburban units were sold at Barfoot & Thompson’s residential auction at its city office yesterday, out of 10 intensive residential properties on offer. A terrace at Flat Bush was sold at pre-auction today.

Among the 6 passed in today, 2 of the more distinctive offerings attracted no bid – an apartment in the 60-year-old Endymion in Remuera and another in the brand-new North apartments on the Great North Rd ridge in Grey Lynn, which was taken to auction by developer David Southcombe.

All 4 apartments auctioned at Bayleys today were sold under the hammer – one in Parklane at the foot of Myers Park, one in the Lapwood Spiral at the top of the park, the other 2 in the Ascent on Nelson St and the one apartment atop an industrial building in Ponsonby.

Correction: The Lapwood Spiral price had an extra zero, putting it at over $1 million for a one-bedroom unit.

7 of 9 sell at City Sales auction

7 of the 9 apartments taken to auction at City Sales yesterday were sold under the hammer.

The auction of one other unit on the schedule was postponed because it had been taken out of the management pool, with gst implications.

The 2 units that were passed in contrasted sharply – one was a 51m² 2-bedroom apartment in the well regarded Statesman, opposite the back of the High Court, which attracted a top bid of $400,000. The other was a 9m² room in Mount Terraces, one of several rooms bought by investors last year, tidied up and brought back to the market. This one went for $50,000 last year and was passed in yesterday at $90,000.

Auction ends with contrast of serviced studio versus leasehold & remedial uncertainty

City Sales ended its apartments auction today with 2 very contrasting offerings – a 3-way bidding war on a studio in the Quest Auckland serviced apartment building on Queen St, followed by no bids on a Quay Park leasehold unit with a declared reserve, remedial issues and the ground rent still not determined.

The bidding war – 3 agents on the phone to buyers raising their offers in short steps – resulted in a sale at $4000/m². The declared reserve sometimes works at drawing bidders in, but didn’t on this occasion, with uncertainty still on 2 important factors. Auction results:
