Auckland City Council will hold its 2nd heritage week from 12-18 September and is asking groups to contact the council by Friday 15 July with details of their own events to be included in the calendar for the week.
Cllr Christine Caughey, chairman of the council’s environment, heritage & urban form committee, said ideas for the week so far included:
Queen St yarns â€“ send in your oldest memory of Queen St as it used to be. The yarns may be incorporated into new artworks that will express the character & experiences of Auckland’s favourite main street
tours of the Civic Theatre
behind the scenes at the Auckland Art Gallery
walking tours of significant heritage trails across the city
local heritage church open days, and
walks along the heritage Waipapa Stream.
