Skellerup signs up for new facility at Wigram business park

Skellerup Holdings Ltd has hired Calder Stewart Industries Ltd to build a new 18,900m² dairy rubberware development & manufacturing facility at the Wigram business park in Christchurch, replacing the Woolston premises lost in the 2010 & 2011 earthquakes.

The facility will be built on 3.4ha Skellerup bought last year from the business park’s developer, Ngai Tahu Property Ltd. Construction is scheduled to be completed by December 2015.

Skellerup buys Alucobond business

Skellerup Industries Limited’s industrial division has bought the exclusive Alucobond importing, fabrication & installation business from Street Image Alucobond, a division of Architectural Composites Ltd.

Skellerup is a subsidiary of Skellmax Industries Ltd. Managing director Donald Stewart said Alucobond was New Zealand’s top-selling aluminium composite cladding material, with 25% market share, and acquisition of the business continued Skellmax’s strategy of buying businesses that complement existing operations.Street Image owner Barry Thwaites will remain involved in the business to give Skellerup knowledge & support, Skellmax chief operating officer Mike McKessar said.Alucobond is made by Alcan.
