6 proposed directors of Auckland Regional Holdings were named today â€“ Judith Bassett, Chas Cable, Peter Hubscher, Joce Jesson, Susan Paterson & John Robertson.
Auckland Regional Holdings takes over from Infrastructure Auckland on 1 July. It, and the Auckland Regional Transport Authority, which will also start operating on 1 July, will both be subsidiaries of the Auckland Regional Council.
The Auckland Regional Holdings board’s responsibilities will include preparing a statement of intent between it & the regional council, and developing a long-term funding plan.
It starts out with $1.3 billion handed over by Infrastructure Auckland.
Mr Robertson, former MP for Papakura, is Infrastructure Auckland chairman and Dr Jesson is an IA director. Dr Jesson is also director of research development, & principal lecturer at the Auckland College of Education.
Mrs Bassett is an Auckland Regional councillor & a senior history lecturer at Auckland University.
Mr Cable, an independent corporate advisor, is a former director of investment banking at Macquarie NZ.
Mr Hubscher was managing director of Montana Wines Ltd and is a director of the Wine Institute & NZ Symphony Orchestra.
Ms Paterson is a director of Transpower NZ and Tower Health & Life and was previously on the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority board.
The 6 were selected from 70 applicants. They are directors designate until legislation setting Auckland Regional Holdings is passed and the organisation is established.
